The Baby and Child Portraits Private Photography Workshop is a one-time private workshop session for parents or parents-to-be to learn how to take professional looking portraits of their baby or young kids. You’ll learn essential settings and lighting techniques for shooting portraits to transform your casual family photos into cherished keepsakes. The objective of the session will be to optimize the use of the camera you already own and become comfortable with a few basic photography skills that can be used as you document your kids growing up for years to come.

The private session is 3 hours and takes place in your home.

The workshop is NOT for beginners and it is required that you have prior:

• basic understanding of camera manual controls (aperture, shutter, ISO), OR
• completion of either Photography 101 or New Camera

You should take the workshop if you are a parent or parent-to-be who:

• own a DSLR camera and want to take professional looking photos of your child
• are looking to buy a new DSLR camera, prior enrollment with either Photography 101 or New Camera workshops recommended)

You will leave with:

• a better understanding of camera controls and appropriate gear for shooting portraiture
• a developed “eye” for portrait lighting, particularly in areas within their own home
• an introduction to preparing their digital files for printing
• access to email your instructor with questions to help you learn at anytime

Course outline:

• Part I (1 hour): Portrait photography fundamentals (camera settings, depth-of-field, introduction to lighting)
• Part II (1 hour): Portrait photoshoot with your baby or child
• Part III (1 hour): Review and output (digital asset management, post-processing, printing)
