The New Camera Private Photography Workshop is a series of private class sessions for beginners either looking to purchase a new camera or who have recently purchased a new camera. You’ll learn the most important camera settings and how to apply them for the most creative effects, before honing in on the photography topics that most interest you – from composition to digital post-processing.
All sessions are taught in English.
Who should take the workshop – aspiring photographers who:
- love taking photos with their “point & shoot” but want to upgrade to a more advanced camera
- have an “eye” for taking photos looking to advance their shooting and equipment
- are looking to buy a new camera but want to make sure they are buying the right one
- just bought a new camera but don’t know how to use it a.k.a. “all the gear with no idea!”
Course outline:
- BUY Session 1: Assessment of the best camera for you and overview of photography fundamentals (1 hour)
- BUY Session 2: Instructor to accompany you to purchase your new camera and lens at a recommended store (1 hour, either immediately after Pre-Session 1 or immediately before start of Session 1)
- BUY Sessions: two sessions (2), total 2 hours
- LEARN Session 1: Photography fundamentals – full manual controls and other important buttons and dials (2 hours – indoor lesson and outdoor shooting)
- LEARN Session 2: Photography fundamentals – advanced controls, composition and photo tips (2 hours – indoor lesson and outdoor shooting)
- LEARN Session 3: Post-processing and Photo Critique – Digital asset management (Lightroom/Aperture/Photoshop) on the computer and critical review of your shots (2 hours)
- LEARN Sessions: three (3) sessions, total 6 hours
Required camera for those enrolling in Sessions 1-3 only:
- any DSLR camera, or
- “advanced point & shoot” camera with manual functions(eg. Canon G12, Olympus EP-2, Panasonic GF2…).
Required camera for those enrolling in Pre-Sessions 1-2 + Sessions 1-3:
- None, as long as you plan to purchase a new camera during Pre-session 2.
